01Context

A holiday-apartment business with a problem shared by the whole industry: near-total dependence on booking platforms, which take a commission on every guest. The existing website was a slow, unoptimized brochure, invisible to search engines — contributing effectively nothing to direct bookings.

02Constraints

The existing booking system (WP Booking System) had to keep running with zero downtime. Small-business budget: no complex infrastructure to maintain, affordable hosting, and a site the owner could actually understand and update.

03Solution

A ground-up rebuild in Next.js with static export: every page is pre-rendered HTML served without a server — maximum speed, minimum cost. Tailwind CSS v4 for a coherent design system, Framer Motion for restrained micro-animations. The SEO architecture was designed before the design itself: semantic content hierarchy, Schema.org structured data for the lodging business, per-page metadata and Open Graph, optimized responsive images. The booking system was integrated into the new frontend, keeping the already-proven reservation flow.

04Results

A clean SEO audit across every page of the site: zero errors, fully indexable content, valid structured data. The site went from invisible cost to acquisition channel: every direct booking is a commission not paid to the platforms. It’s the project I point to when a client asks what 'rebuilding the site' means: not prettier — more profitable.
